About this site

AI Visibility Tracking Tool is published by Torch99, the company behind 99Visibility. It has two parts: a free checker that asks AI engines about a brand, and a library of 1,044 pages on how AI search works.

The checker

The checker is 99Visibility's free check, run from your browser against 99Visibility's own service. It asks up to three buyer questions (yours, or three written from your homepage without your brand name) to ChatGPT with web search and to Google AI Overviews, and scores the answers with 99Visibility's scoring. It is a snapshot: the same question asked twice can get two different answers, and API answers can differ from what the consumer apps show. An email opens the full report and goes to 99Visibility as a lead; nothing else is done with it.

The library

Every library page is AI-assisted. Each one was written by a language model from a fixed evidence base: 99Visibility's verified review of the primary sources on generative engine optimization, the documentation the engines publish, and the studies listed in each page's sources. The rules each page has to pass are in the editorial policy.

The experiment

This site is also a public experiment. We want to know how a large, sourced library on a young domain is discovered, indexed and cited by Google, Bing and the AI engines that ground on them, and over what timeline. We are measuring indexing in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, citations in AI answers to a fixed set of prompts, and AI crawler visits.

Pages are split evenly into two presentation formats. Half open with a labelled short answer, a key-takeaways box and an FAQ section with FAQ structured data. The other half carry the same text as an ordinary opening paragraph and an ordinary closing section, with no FAQ structured data. Everything else is the same. The evidence base predicts no difference between the two; this tests that in the open.

The experiment uses only legitimate publishing: no hidden text, no content shown only to crawlers, no instructions aimed at AI models, and no paid or automated links. We plan to publish what we learn on 99Visibility.
